The Exercise Pinion Titan involves around 2,000 British and French troops in a month of aerial operations across the United Kingdom, involving up to 50 helicopters.

Led by the 1st Aviation Brigade, the training integrates Wildcats, Apaches, Chinooks, and Gazelles, as well as C-17 and A400M transport aircraft, with logistical support from British, French, and U.S. units. The goal is to test operational readiness, validate new technologies, and strengthen interoperability among NATO countries.

Missions include flights from forward bases in various regions, operations in extreme weather conditions, and simulated attacks on strategic targets. The exercise also marks the consolidation of the modernization of the British Army Aviation, which showcased its strength with a “elephant walk” of 24 helicopters at Wattisham. Crews face challenges such as landing in snow-covered areas and integrating advanced sensors for reconnaissance and support of attack aircraft.

To maintain a high operational tempo, support units provide fuel, maintenance, security, communications, and specialized logistics. The Brigade Support Group, led by the 7 Aviation Support Battalion, plays a decisive role in ensuring supplies and repairs in remote locations. According to its commanders, the breadth of skills—from aviation technicians to supply operators—is essential to sustain combat aviation and ensure the success of the largest exercise of its kind conducted by the United Kingdom in years.
